David de Gea has named the best strikers in the Manchester United jersey that he has encountered over the 12 years he has played for the Red Devils. He looked back on his time at Old Trafford and mentioned the top five players he has faced in the league. In the interview, the Spanish goalkeeper named Robin van Persie, Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and Romelu Lukaku as the top five players he faced on the training pitch. He also highlighted the fact that whenever these strikers failed to score in training, they were visibly frustrated.

Van Persie, Cristiano Ronaldo, Rooney, Ibrahimovic and Lukaku. But when they didn’t score against me in training, they also got frustrated

Robin van Persie helped the club win their last Premier League title and David de Gea’s first ever league title whereas Rooney was a club legend throughout David de Gea’s tenure. Zlatan helped the club win multiple titles whereas Ronaldo joined the club back in 2021 to make things merrier for David de Gea. While Romelu Lukaku did not get the end he wanted with Manchester United, he was a lethal goalscorer in his initial seasons.

What has kept Ronaldo going for the long term in football?

Danny Drinkwater shed the light on how Cristiano Ronaldo’s mentality made it difficult for others while keeping him going in the right direction. Talking about his fitness levels, he mentioned how he admired Ronaldo. In an interview, he said:

I remember he come back [to pre-season] and he looked like, I don't know, he looked like he smashed the gym for a whole year, man. And I remember thinking like, 'wow, like he's at the first team and he's doing that, like we've got ages to go'. And I remember after that then I started taking gym seriously

What is David de Gea doing currently?

After his departure from Manchester United and a year-long sabbatical, David de Gea is currently plying his trade with Fiorentina in Italy. Following a strong start to the season, de Gea continues to help keep Fiorentina in the European race, as they are currently in eighth place on the Serie A points table. They will also face Celje in the quarterfinals of the UEFA Conference League in a bid to qualify for the Europa League.
