Nico Hulkenberg (born August 19, 1987) is an experienced German racing driver, currently competing in Formula One for the Kicks Sauber team. Known for his consistent performances and reputation as a reliable midfield driver, Hulkenberg is a veteran driver on the grid. His journey in F1 was marked by success in junior categories. He won the German Formula BMW title in 2005 and played a key role in A1 Team Germany's championship win in the 2006-07 season, taking nine race wins. He won the Formula 3 Euro Series in 2008 and the GP2 Series championship in his debut season in 2009.

Drove for several teams

In 2010, he made his Formula One debut with Williams, where he scored pole position at the Brazilian Grand Prix in his rookie year. Over the years, Hulkenberg has driven for several teams, including Force India, Sauber, Renault and Haas, demonstrating his adaptability and ability to consistently score points. Despite his talent and longevity in the sport, Hulkenberg holds the unenviable record of most F1 starts without a podium finish. However, his contributions to his teams have been significant, often outperforming the machinery and consistently bringing home valuable points. His top championship finish was seventh in 2018 while driving for Renault.

Win the prestigious endurance race in 24 hours

Apart from Formula One, Hulkenberg scored a remarkable victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans with Porsche in 2015 to become the first active F1 driver to win the prestigious endurance race in 24 years. For the 2025 season, he has moved to Kicks Sauber, partnering with Gabriele Bortoleto. He finished strong in eighth place in the opening races of the 2025 season, including his home race in Germany. With his vast experience and consistent track record, Nico Hulkenberg remains a respected figure in Formula 1, delivering solid performances for the kick-ass Sauber team as he looks to the future.
