All you need to know about the F1 team Scuderia Ferrari

Credits: X

The one team to match the unbeatable legacy of the sport itself, Scuderia Ferrari. The racing division of the world renowned and cherished brand, Ferrari is the only team to compete in every season since the inception of Formula 1. Founded by Enzo Ferrari, Scuderia launched into F1 racing in 1950. Eager to roar their dominance, the team won its first F1 race the following year in 1951. With some of the legendary F1 names listed in the Ferrari roster over the years, the team has won 16 World Championships.

Moreover, with ever-evolving engineering tactics, Ferrari is known to have an edge over its competitors. Identified swiftly by the fiery red presence on the racing track, famously known as Rosso Corsa, Scuderia Ferrari is synonymous with speed, style, and a rich racing heritage. The team is based out of Maranello, Italy, and Frederic Vasseur is the current team chief of Scuderia Ferrari.

Scuderia Ferrari: Champions and Legacy in F1

Scuderia Ferrari has produced and partnered with some of the greatest drivers in F1 history. Their first world champion was Alberto Ascari in the early 1950s. The team’s golden era came in the early 2000s under the leadership of Jean Todt, with Michael Schumacher at the wheel. Schumacher won five consecutive world titles from 2000 to 2004, helping Ferrari claim six constructors’ championships in that period.

Other famous Ferrari champions include Niki Lauda, who won two of his three titles with the team, and Kimi Raikkonen, who remains Ferrari’s last world champion. In the current roster, Ferrari has brought in Lewis Hamilton, one of the modern-day champions whose achievements project him as the true descendant of Schumacher, the legend who drove Ferrari to unprecedented heights. With 16 Constructors’ Championships, Ferrari holds the record for most titles.

Current Lineup of Ferrari

As of the 2025 F1 season, Ferrari’s driver lineup includes Charles Leclerc who joined Ferrari in 2019 and has consistently delivered strong performances. While the season started subtly for Scuderia Ferrari, Charles Leclerc earned the first podium finish for Ferrari at the Saudi Arabia Grand Prix where he finished behind Oscar Piastri and Max Verstappen respectively.

For the ongoing season, Leclerc is partnering with Lewis Hamilton who replaced Carlos Sainz in 2025. Sainz, who has now gone to Williams, joined Ferrari in 2021 and earned the only victory for the team in the 2023 season. Hamilton, meanwhile, has accumulated 38 points so far in the season.

Recent Performances

In recent years, Ferrari has shown flashes of brilliance but has struggled to reclaim the dominance of their past. They finished 3rd in the 2023 Constructors’ Championship and 2nd in 2022. While the team has been competitive, inconsistencies in pace and strategy have held them back. Nonetheless, with a strong car development program and a star-studded driver lineup, Ferrari remains one of the biggest threats to the recent dominance of Red Bull. Currently, following the Saudi Arabia Grand Prix, Ferrari stands at the 4th spot with 78 points behind McLaren, Mercedes, and Red Bull respectively.
