The Alpine F1 Team, currently known as the BWT Alpine F1 Team due to sponsorship, represents the French automotive brand Alpine in the FIA Formula One World Championship. With its chassis operations based in Enstone, United Kingdom and its engine development in Viry-Chatillon, France, the team holds a French racing licence. Alpine's entry into Formula 1 under its name in 2021 was an important step in the evolution of a team with a rich history.

A legacy of several changes

The Alpine F1 Team traces its roots back to the Toleman Team in 1981. Over the years, the organisation underwent several changes, becoming Benetton in 1986, Renault in 2002, Lotus Renault GP in 2011, and Lotus F1 Team from 2012 to 2015.  As Benetton, the team enjoyed considerable success, securing the Constructors' Championship in 1995, with Michael Schumacher claiming two Drivers' Championships in 1994 and 1995. The Renault era also saw significant victories, winning both the Constructors' and Drivers' Championships (Fernando Alonso) in 2005 and 2006.

A new chapter of the Alpine Era

The 2021 rebranding to Alpine reflected a new ambition for the Renault Group's sports car division. In its inaugural season under the Alpine banner, the team celebrated its first Formula 1 victory at the Hungarian Grand Prix, courtesy of Esteban Ocon, with Fernando Alonso also achieving a podium finish in Qatar. The 2022 season saw Alpine demonstrate progress and consistency by reaching fourth in the Constructors' standings. The driver lineup for the 2025 season currently includes Pierre Gasly alongside reserve driver Jack Doohan.

Technical prowess and future aspirations

The Alpine A525 chassis for the 2025 season showcases advanced engineering, including carbon fibre composite monocoque construction, sophisticated front and rear suspension systems and the Renault E-TECH RE25 power unit. The team constantly innovates using data analysis and simulation techniques to enhance the car's performance. With a mix of experienced personnel and a commitment to pushing technical boundaries, the BWT Alpine F1 Team aims to build on its foundations and challenge for top honours in the competitive world of Formula 1. The team's long-term goals include achieving regular podium finishes and ultimately competing for the championship.
