There is always this one big word in F1, and it is called “American F1 Team.” The Haas F1 Team, also known as the Moneygram Haas F1 team, is the flag-bearer of America in Formula One. They represent the engineering prowess and motorsport ambition on the global stage of industrialist Gene Haas, making their debut in 2016 with a unique model and fresh approach to the race.

The driving team with a different formula for success: Haas

Unlike the usual teams that are known to build everything in-house, Haas pioneered the approach of optimizing by maximizing the allowable technical partnerships within F1 regulations and rules. Establishing a close technical alliance with Ferrari for power units, and outsourcing chassis development to Dallara initially, Haas created a lean operating team that can create and play big with the enormous infrastructure of legacy teams.

Under the leadership of Team Principal Ayao Komatsu and Technical Director Andrea De Zordo, Haas are operating with remarkable efficiency. While there has been scrutiny over dependency on others, Haas continues to develop the pragmatic approach.

The Driver Evolution at Haas

The Haas has featured diverse and experienced drivers throughout its history. The team started with Romain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen, who had a stable pairing for multiple seasons before sending out Mick Schumacher and Nikita Mazepin. Currently, they boast of a lineup of Oliver Bearman and Esteban Ocon.

Haas F1 Operations

Haas runs their facilities across three countries. While their official headquarters is in Kannapolis, North Carolina, their European base is in Banbury, United Kingdom. They also have a design office in Maranello, Italy with their technical partner Ferrari, allowing them to leverage the best resources.

Recent Team Performance

After a promising debut season in 2016 and the best championship finish in 2018, they finished fifth place in the constructors’ standings. They had struggled in 2019-2021 and saw a difficult period with the team struggling at the back of the grid. They finished in a pointless 2021 season. In the next seasons, they finished seventh and tenth place with their drivers, Niko Hulkenberg, Magnussen, and Schumacher.

In the ongoing campaign, Haas have 20 points in their kitty with them in sixth position. Oliver Bearman finds himself in 13th position with six points whereas Ocon is currently ninth with 14 points.
