Racing Bulls F1 Team: All you need to know
A story of bold rebranding and revitalization of what was known as AlphaTauri and Toro Rosso, Racing Bulls Formula One Team has grown beyond the bounds. While they have been Red Bull’s sister team, they have moved beyond being the testing grounds for young talent to become the best contenders with ambitions of their own in recent years.
The Transformation Journey: From Toro Rosso to Racing Bulls
The Red Bull bought the struggling Minardi team in 2005 and rebranded as Toro Rosso, the Italian version of Red Bull. After featuring as Torro Rosso for over a decade, the club rebranded itself into AlphaTauri for the next four seasons only to metamorphosis into emerging as Racing Bulls for the 2024 season. This allows the outfit to play within its unique identity.
Under the leadership of CEO Peter Bayer and Team Principal Laurent Mekies, Racing Bulls are operating from significant autonomy while also leveraging Red Bulls' expertise. The transition is playing a pivotal role in identifying beyond being the junior Red Bulls.
The Current Driver Lineup
Racing Bulls currently boasts a lineup with a blend of experience and youth. The current teammates include Liam Lawson and Isack Hajdar, who have played 16 and five Grand Prix respectively. Yuki Tsunoda also adds to the line-up that has gone under a significant change in recent times. The young team has yet to see a podium finish but continue to show promise in the field.
Where Are Racing Bulls Based?
Racing Bulls are based out of two places, currently. The main factory is based out of Faenza, Italy which was previously the headquarters of Minardi and is building a technical facility in the United Kingdom.
Racing Bulls' Recent Performances
In recent times, Racing Bulls have shown improved performances but are unable to close it on a strong note. They have been utilizing the engine since 2018, the Honda RBPT Units. However, the engine has shown issues with diffusers, causing a key concern and affecting their final finishes in the recent teams.
With the sister team, Red Bull Racing, changing their model from 2026 onwards, Racing Bulls will look forward to Red Bull Ford Powertrains, which has better technical aspects compared to the previous ones. In the ongoing campaign, Racing Bulls find themselves in eighth position with eight points while their drivers are 14th, 16th, and 18th respectively.
