Experienced mid-fielder Ilkay Gundogan feels Manchester City know how to get out of the ongoing poor run this season. They lost to Juventus 2-0 on Wednesday (December 11) after conceding second-half goals from Dusan Vlahovic and Weston McKenni. The loss has left City in danger of being eliminated before the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League. They have now won only one match in the last 10 outings across competitions which is a pretty worrying sign for the club. While conceding that the injury-hit team Manchester City feel in danger of every opposition currently, he also urged his teammates to take the responsibility.
He also admitted to missing quite a few chances on the field and not making the right decisions in crunch moments. “It's very disappointing. I feel like we had chances to score a few goals but at the moment it feels like every attack we concede is so dangerous.
“I have a feeling sometimes we are a bit careless in the duels, instead of playing simple we overcomplicate things and we miss the right timing to pass the ball, to release the ball. We just lose balls and [the opposition] score on the transition every time,” Gundogan told TNT Sports.
Who will Manchester City face next?
The latest loss at the hands of Juventus has led to Manchester City slipping to 22nd position in the UEFA Champions League. They have won only two out of six matches so far while losing and drawing two each as well and have only 8 points to show for their efforts.
Having won only a solitary match in the last 10 outings, Manchester City next face Manchester United in the Premier League who are at the 13th position in the standings. City, themselves, are in a strife this season sitting at fourth place after 15 matches. They have won eight matches, drawn three, and lost four in the Premier League this season with 27 points, eight behind the leaders Liverpool.
Manchester City will be looking to turn things around soon as they face United on Sunday (December 15) at 10 PM IST.
