The Olympic basketball tournament is set to take place from July 27 to August 10 during the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, France. During the group stage, matches will take place at the Pierre Mauroy Stadium in Lille. The knockout stage of the Olympic basketball tournament will then move to the Bercy Arena, also known as the Accor Arena, located in Paris.

Spain, Greece, Brazil, and Puerto Rico became the latest countries to secure a spot in the Paris Olympics 2024 after winning the FIBA Olympic Qualifying tournaments. Eight teams qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympics through the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023: France, Australia, South Sudan, Japan, Team USA, Canada, Serbia, and Germany. 1. 2024 Summer Olympics Basketball Tournament Format

Twelve teams have been divided into three groups of four teams each, with a single round-robin format within each group. The top two teams from each group and the best third-placed teams will advance to the quarterfinals. Talking about Olympics news, following the group stage, teams will be categorized based on their results, and a draw will pair teams from different categories for the quarterfinals.

Teams will be seeded into four pots: Pot D for the top two-ranked teams, Pot E for 3rd-4th ranked teams, Pot F for 5th-6th ranked teams, and Pot G for 7th-8th ranked teams. Teams from Pot D will be matched with teams from Pot G, and teams from Pot E will be matched with teams from Pot F. Teams from the same group cannot play against each other again. Also, if both teams from Pot D make it to the semifinals, they will not compete against each other.

The United States, as the leader of Group C, will kick off its campaign against Serbia on July 28. Meanwhile, France, playing in front of a home crowd in Group B, will embark on their journey with a match against Brazil on July 27. They will face the reigning world champions, Germany, on August 2.
