All About Field Hockey At The Paris 2024 Olympics

The Paris 2024 Olympics will be the largest event ever held in France. The games will take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024, and will position Paris at the centre of the global sporting community. Indian Hockey last won a gold medal at the Summer Olympic Games in the 1980 Moscow Olympics. The hockey tournaments for the Paris Olympics 2024 will take place at the historic Yves-du-Manoir Stadium in Colombes, near Paris. 12 men's and 12 women's national teams will compete for the highly coveted Olympic medals. The reigning gold medalists from the Tokyo Olympics 2020, including the Dutch women and Belgian men, will also compete in the event. The Indian men's hockey team will start its campaign against New Zealand at the Paris 2024 Olympics on July 27.

The Indian men's hockey team has been placed in Pool B for the 2024 Paris Olympics, alongside reigning champions Belgium, according to the International Hockey Federation (FIH) draw. Australia, Argentina, Ireland, and New Zealand are the other four teams in India's pool for the 2024 Olympics in July and August. The Indian men's hockey team earned a spot in the Paris Olympics 2024 by clinching the gold medal at the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China. India, ranked No. 3 in the latest FIH rankings, will be the second-highest-ranked hockey team in their pool after No. 2 Belgium. Tokyo 2020 silver medallists Australia are the other favourites in the Pool B. Meanwhile, Netherlands, Germany, Great Britain, Spain, hosts France and South Africa make up Pool A of the 12-team men's hockey tournament at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Field Hockey Paris 2024 Olympics Venue

Yves-du-Manoir, in Colombes, France, will host all the hockey matches at the Olympics. It was named in memory of French rugby player Yves du Manoir in 1928 and served as the main stadium for the 1924 Summer Olympics. It had a capacity of 45,000 people. During the 1924 Olympics, it hosted athletics, cycling, horseback riding, gymnastics, tennis, football, rugby, and two modern pentathlon events: running and fencing.
