All About Table Tennis Ahead Of 2024 Olympic Games

As many as 18 days are left for the start of the much-awaited 2024 Paris Olympics. The 33rd edition of the Summer Olympic Games is set to be held in Paris from July 26 to August 11 this year. Paris Olympics 2024 will showcase 32 sports, including the 28 "core" Olympic sports. Table tennis fans at the 2024 Paris Olympics can watch the high-intensity competition starting with the first men's and women's singles preliminary matches on Saturday, July 27. Fifteen days of table tennis competition will conclude on Saturday, August 10, with the women's Team final. Table Tennis at the 2024 Summer Olympic Games: Scoring system

Games are won when the first player or team reaches 11 points while leading by at least 2 points. The player who wins the best of seven games wins the singles match. Team matches consist of four singles matches and one doubles match, each played over the best of five games. In determining the server for points, after a coin toss determines the initial serve, the receiving player/team becomes the serving player/team after two points have been scored. This rotation continues until the end of the game or until a match is tied at 10, at which point players or teams alternate service after every point. The player or pair who serves first in a game will receive first in the next game of the match. In doubles, the serving rotation changes after each game so that the players receive from the server they did not receive from in the previous game.

Table Tennis at the 2024 Summer Olympic Games: Venue and Events

The South Paris Arena 4, located within the Paris Expo complex, will be the venue for the Olympic table tennis in 2024. Constructed in 1923 for the Paris Trade Fair, the complex has undergone several renovations to modernize its facilities for the Olympic Games and beyond. There will be five events: Men's Singles, Women's Singles, Men's Team, Women's Team, and Mixed Doubles.
