FIH Hockey World Rankings: India in 5th place after the Paris Olympics 2024

The Indian men's hockey team stands in 5th place in the updated FIH hockey world rankings published after the conclusion of the Paris Olympics 2024. The Men in Blue led by Harmanpreet Singh won the bronze medal in the 2024 Summer Olympic Games. The Indian hockey team will be satisfied with their performance in the Paris Olympics 2024. The latest rise in the hockey world rankings is a result of the consecutive bronze medals won by Harmanpreet and Co. in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and the 2024 Paris Olympics. The Indian men's hockey team came from a goal down to beat Spain 2-1 and win the bronze medal at the Paris Olympics 2024 and gave a befitting farewell to veteran goalkeeper PR Sreejesh who played his last International match on Thursday, August 8.

Despite a loss against the Netherlands in the final match, Germany won a silver medal in the men’s hockey event at the Paris Olympics 2024. England dropped down to the third position, as Great Britain suffered a shocking defeat against 10-men India in the quarter-finals of the 2024 Summer Olympic Games.

Belgium which was the only team to defeat India in the group stages of Paris Olympics 2024, dropped to the fourth spot. The mighty Australian hockey team, which suffered its first defeat against India in 52 years in the Paris Olympics 2024 dropped to the sixth position in the hockey world rankings. Surprise package Argentina, who qualified for the quarter-finals, dropped one position to the seventh place.
