Can Nisha Dahiya win a Bronze medal at the Paris Olympics 2024?

Star Indian wrestler Nisha Dahiya will still have a chance to win a bronze medal at the Paris Olympics 2024 if her quarter-final opponent Pak Sol Gum from North Korea makes it to the final of the women’s 68 kg freestyle event. If Pak Sol Gum indeed qualifies for the final, Nisha Dahiya will compete in the repechage rounds and eventually be a part of the bronze medal match if she manages to perform extremely well despite the injury in repechage bouts. Pak Sol Gum defeated Irina Ringaci from the Republic of Moldova in the Round of 16 fight by 10-6. Later, in the quarter-final match, Pak Sol Gum went on to defeat Nisha Dahiya by 10-8 to storm into the semi-final. She will take on Amit Elor from the USA in the semi-final fight next. If she manages to make it to the final, her three losing opponents will stand a chance to play the bronze medal match.

Can Nisha Dahiya still win a Bronze Medal at the Paris Olympics 2024?

Indian wrestler Nisha Dahiya will still have a chance to win a bronze medal at the Paris Olympics 2024 if her quarter-final opponent Pak Sol Gum from North Korea makes it to the final of the women’s 68 kg freestyle event. Nisha Dahiya suffered a severe injury during her quarter-final fight in the women's 68 kg event against North Korea's Pak Sol Gum at the 2024 Summer Olympic Games. Nisha's campaign at the Paris Olympics concluded after she suffered a heartbreaking 8-10 loss to Sol Gum. At one point, she was leading by 8-1, but she suffered a shoulder injury during the match and had to take some medical timeouts. Talking about India Olympics medals, Nisha Dahiya has a very slim chance of getting a shot at winning the Bronze medal.

Nishan Dahiya's participation in repechage uncertain after shoulder injury

Earlier in the day on August 5, Nisha Dahiya started off her Paris Olympics 2024 campaign on a winning note after defeating Ukraine’s Tetaine Rizhiko by 6-4 in her opening Round of 16 fight to storm into the quarter-final. In the quarter-final match against Pak Sol Gum, Nisha Dahiya was leading by 8-1 with only 90 seconds of the fight remaining. Unfortunately, she sustained a serious injury to her right hand and shoulder part, causing her to cry out in intense pain during the 2024 Summer Olympic Games.

The shoulder injury impacted her performance big time, destroying her focus and allowing her opponent to score nine consecutive points and clinch victory to make it to the semi-finals. With 10 seconds left in the fight, the score was tied at 8-8. Despite all her efforts, Nisha Dahiya ultimately fell short, failing to meet expectations in the closing moments of the match. If the injured Indian wrestler makes it to the repechage rounds, there are still doubts if she will participate in it as her extent of injury is still yet to be analysed.

Can Nisha Dahiya still win a Bronze Medal for India?

Nisha Dahiya will compete in the repechage rounds and eventually be a part of the bronze medal match if her quarter-final opponent Pak Sol Gum from North Korea makes it to the final of the women’s 68 kg freestyle event. In that case, Nisha Dahiya will have to make a quick turnaround from injury and perform extremely well in repechage bouts at the Paris Olympics 2024. Unfortunately, Pak Sol Gum has lost the Women's Freestyle 68kg semifinal match against American Amit Elor. With this result, it is indeed curtains down for the Indian wrestler Nisha Dahiya.
