The Indian Paralympics team will be hopeful of winning more medals in Paris. With 3 days left for the Paris Paralympics 2024 which is starting on August 28, the India Paralympics team is training harder than ever to put on their best-ever performance following the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics success. Suhas Yathiraj, who currently holds the World No. 1 ranking in the men’s singles SL4 category, is one of India's most accomplished para-athletes. In a recent interview, Suhas admitted that the journey to become the best in the business has not been easy.

"I have sacrificed my personal life a lot. I dedicated my personal life to sports. In the last six months, besides my job, I have been devoting considerable time to my sport. You cannot get everything in life, everyone has to prioritise things when you aspire to represent the country. You should enjoy whatever you are doing. Enjoy the process. The real secret is to enjoy what you do," Suhas Yathiraj said.

With 3 days left for the Paris Paralympics 2024, India is set to send its largest-ever contingent of 84 athletes. Among these athletes is Suhas Lalinakere Yathiraj, a top para-badminton player who has made headlines not only for his achievements in sports but also for his distinguished career as an IAS officer. Suhas Yathiraj will be competing in the men’s singles and mixed doubles SL4 categories at the 2024 Paris Paralympics, aiming to add a gold medal to his already impressive list of accolades but says he is not taking any pressure.

"Everything is going good till now, the preparation, the run-up to the Games. But I don't want to take pressure. I can't be complacent because every match starts from 0-0, I don't want to think too much ahead. This time every match is a knockout as I am starting from the pre-quarterfinals. The real focus will be to apply myself in every match, just go and perform to the best of my abilities. I will be taking it one match at a time," Suhas Yathiraj added.

Suhas Yathiraj gained international attention during the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics, where he secured a silver medal in the men’s singles SL4 category, becoming the only IAS officer in India to win a Paralympic medal. As India's para badminton contingent gears up for the Paris Paralympics 2024, Suhas Yathiraj is not just a medal contender but also an inspiration worldwide.
