Leading up to the second week of the 2024 Summer Olympic Games, Viacom18, the official Indian broadcaster of the Olympics, estimated that about 120 million viewers would watch the Olympic games on their television network Sports18. Meanwhile, as per reports far more viewers were expected to watch the event on the broadcaster's streaming platform, JioCinema.
Talking about the host nation, early data showed an 83.3% audience share in France for the opening ceremony on July 26, illustrating the widespread interest in the event. In the USA, NBC's streaming platform Peacock had already exceeded the total viewership of both the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and 2022 Beijing Olympics combined within just three days of the ongoing edition.
