Paris Olympics 2024: All you need to know about Vinesh Phogat CAS appeal verdict
Star Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat has announced her retirement from wrestling after a heartbreak at the Paris Olympics. Vinesh Phogat's dream run at the 2024 Summer Olympic Games came to a morale-sapping halt as she failed to meet the weight requirement for her women’s 50kg wrestling gold medal bout. Earlier this week, Phogat scripted history by becoming the first Indian in Olympic history to qualify for the women's wrestling final. Unfortunately, she will have to return home without any medal as she has been placed last on the official final standings. The 29-year-old Vinesh had become the first Indian woman wrestler to reach an Olympic final in wrestling. Sakshi Malik, the only other woman wrestler to win an Olympic medal for India, had clinched a bronze medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
