The Indian contingent played across five disciplines on Monday but couldn’t secure any medals. The paddler beat France’s Prithika Pavade 3-0 to become the first Indian to move to the pre-quarterfinals. In badminton, Satwik-Chirag qualified for the quarterfinals as the French pair of Corvee-Labor lost to Indonesia’s Alfian-Ardianto. Now, Satwik-Chirag and Alfian-Ardianto from Group C have advanced to the men’s doubles event in badminton. Moreover, bronze medallist Manu Bhaker, along with her partner Sarabjot Singh, has earned a place in the bronze medal match of the 10m air pistol mixed event. However, India’s shooting prospects Ramita and Arjun Babuta exited the tournament on Monday after finishing 7th and 4th in their respective 10m air rifle events.

Tuesday, July 30th, will have the likes of Bhaker, Satwik-Chirag, and the Indian men’s hockey team in action. The Indian men’s hockey team engaged in a match against Argentina on Monday. The match ended in a 1-1 draw, aided by a late equalizer scored by Indian captain Harmanpreet. Now, on Tuesday, the team will face Ireland in Pool B. Moreover, the day has an action-packed schedule lined up for the Indian boxing team. Jasmine Lamboriya, Amit Panghal, and Preeti Panwar will enter the ring to compete in their respective categories.
