It would not be wrong to say that Archery competitions test participants' precision, concentration, and skill in using a bow to shoot arrows at a target. Whereas, Competitions are divided into various categories based on the type of bow (recurve, compound, or barebow), the distance to the target, and the format of the event.

Talking about Olympic archery, athletes participate in events by using recurve bows and shooting at targets 70 meters away, where the target comprises ten concentric scoring rings, with the innermost ring giving ten points. Despite this, the competition consists of individual and team events, with archers shooting a series of ends (sets of arrows) to accumulate points.

Compound archery is a prominent sport in World Archery Federation (WA) competitions, where players use bows with pulleys to increase stability and precision, are positioned at 50 metres, and targets are scored similarly to recurve events.

Meanwhile, Field archery involves shooting at targets of varying distances, often set in natural, rugged terrain. This format requires additional skills in judging distances and adapting to different environments. However, Indoor archery takes place over shorter distances, typically 18 meters, and is a popular winter sport.

You might know but scoring in archery is meticulous, with judges often using magnifying tools to determine close calls. The sport emphasizes not only physical prowess but also mental fortitude, making it a highly disciplined and strategic competition.
