Paris Olympics 2024: Top Contenders Who Will Lead India's Medal Hopes At The Olympic Games
July 26th will mark the opening ceremony of the Summer Olympic Games, set to unfold in the capital city of France, Paris. A total of 117 athletes across 16 sport disciplines will take on the event from India. India performed exceptionally well in the last edition, winning 7 medals, the most until now at the Olympic Games. With Neeraj Chopra, India laid claim to their second Olympic gold medal. Apart from the gold, India bagged 2 silvers with Mirabai Chanu in weightlifting and Ravi Dahiya in wrestling. Moreover, PV Sindhu in badminton, the Indian Men’s Hockey team, Lovlina Borgohain, and Bajrang Punia in wrestling won a bronze each, completing the medal tally. 1. Neeraj Chopra - Javelin Throw
India’s first-ever track and field Olympics medallist has built a temperament that doesn’t demand a position below the top 3. The javelin thrower will land in Paris now as a gold medallist at the 2023 World Athletics Championship.

Satwik-Chirag’s performances across various tournaments recently made them the world’s No.1 men’s doubles pair. 6. Aman Sehrawat - Wrestling
Sehrawat earned the qualification for the Paris Olympics after overthrowing Ravi Dahiya from the race. The youngster won the bout 13-14 against the former bronze winner. The 20-year-old is seeded sixth in the tournament. Sehrawat, the only men’s wrestler to qualify for this edition, boasts an enthralling record to his name. Now, the team will go to Paris with mostly the same squad. The team finished 7th in the recently wrapped FIH Pro League.
