Paris Paralympics 2024: India Schedule Day 2, August 30

Indian para-athletes embarked on their campaign at the Paris Paralympic Games on Thursday, with the group stage action in para-badminton marking the beginning of their journey. Among the early highlights was star archer Sheetal Devi, who secured an impressive second place in the ranking round, achieving a personal best score of 703. However, the day was not without its setbacks, as para-taekwondo athlete Aruna Tanwar and para-cyclist Jyoti Gadheriya faced early exits from the competition, adding a mix of triumphs and disappointments to the opening day.

India will be in pursuit of their first medal at the Paris Paralympics 2024 on August 30 (Friday), with Avani Lekhara leading the charge in the Women's 10m Air Rifle Standing SH1 Qualification. Avani, who claimed gold in the same event at the Tokyo Games three years ago, will aim to secure her spot in the final, which is also scheduled for Friday, potentially setting the stage for India's first podium finish. Adding to the medal hopes, Manish Narwal will compete in the Men's 10m Air Pistol SH1 category, after having clinched gold in the Mixed 50m Pistol SH1 event at the Tokyo Paralympics.

Sriharsha Devaraddi Ramakrishna will represent India in the Mixed 10m Air Rifle Standing SH2 event, while athletes Jyoti Karam, Sakshi Kasana, Preethi Pal, and Manu will hustle for medals in various athletics events. Additionally, India’s compound archer Sarita will face Malaysia's Nur Jannaton Abdul Jalil in the Round of 32, while several Indian shuttlers, including Manasi Joshi and defending champion Krishna Nagar, will also be competing in their respective group stage matches.
