Defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have made a phenomenal comeback in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) season having registered a pretty convincing 8-wicket victory over the Rajasthan Royals in their second game played at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. The Ajinkya Rahane-led KKR team did not had the best of starts to their IPL 2025 campaign as they suffered a really disappointing loss at the hands of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the tournament opener. The bowling group set up this emphatic victory after which Quinton de Kock showed his class by batting remarkably well to finish the run-chase and helped Kolkata Knight Riders their first points this IPL 2025 season.

RR vs KKR IPL 2025: Kolkata Knight Riders grabs two easy points by dominating Rajasthan Royals

Despite losing the toss and being asked to bat first on a tricky Guwahati wicket, the Rajasthan Royals started off things on a decent note with the opening pair of Sanju Samson and Yashasvi Jaiswal adding 33 runs in 3.5 overs. However, Kolkata Knight Riders made an impressive comeback as their young pacer Vaibhav Arora dismissed Samson in the fourth over to provide his team with the opening breakthrough. The duo of Jaiswal and RR skipper Riyan Parag got fine starts with the bat, but both of them failed to convert it into a big innings.

It was the wicket of Parag which led to the great batting collapse from the Rajasthan Royals at their second home in Guwahati. The home side ended up losing as many as 5 wickets for just 43 runs in the middle-overs after which they failed to recover. After scoring a fantastic half-century in the last match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, wicket-keeper batter Dhruv Jurel could only manage to smash 33 runs off 28 balls in this game against Kolkata Knight Riders.

Towards the end, Jofra Archer smacked two big sixes, but still the Rajasthan Royals could only finish with a below-par first innings total of 151 for 9 in their quota of 20 overs. For the Kolkata Knight Riders, the entire bowling attack performed as a unit and were amongst the wickets as well. The likes of Vaibhav Arora, Harshit Rana, Moeen Ali and Varun Chakravarthy picked up two wickets each.

In the second innings, the Kolkata Knight Riders started off things slowly as they scored 40 runs in the first six overs of the powerplay. The duo of Moeen Ali and skipper Ajinkya Rahane failed to contribute much with the bat. However, KKR opener Quinton de Kock looked in a tremendous form right from the start as he was striking the ball with some really good timing. De Kock smashed a blistering unbeaten knock of 97 runs off just 61 deliveries that included 8 fours and 6 sixes to complete the easy run-chase with as many as 15 balls to spare.
