The swashbuckling right handed batsman first rose to fame in the Indian Premier League (IPL) while playing for the Mumbai Indians (MI) where he showed his astonishing power-hitting range of shots. However, his talent and skills came into the resurgence when he was bought by the Kolkata Knight Riders in 2014 and he went on to smash a fine tally of 512 runs from as many as 14 games in IPL 2018 that included four half-centuries. He notched up an explosive half-century on his T20I debut at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
While talking about Suryakumar's current numbers in international cricket, he has scored a total of 2141 runs from as many as 60 T20I matches at a remarkable strike-rate of over 171 that comprises of 17 fifties and 4 hundreds. He went on to smash his maiden IPL century in 2023 that came against Gujarat Titans. Suryakumar blasted an incredible unbeaten knock of 103 runs off just 49 deliveries that included 11 fours and 6 sixes. Incidentally, he was not available for the first few matches of IPL 2024 due to recovery from an injury.
However, Suryakumar Yadav finally announced himself in the ongoing IPL 2024 season with an exceptional unbeaten innings of 102 runs off only 51 balls that consisted of 12 fours and 6 sixes. This was his second century for the Mumbai Indians in the IPL history.
