He is currently the No 1 Ranked T20 batsman in the ICC Men's T20I Rankings for the batters. The swashbuckling right handed batsman first rose to fame in the Indian Premier League (IPL) while playing for the Mumbai Indians (MI) where he showed his astonishing power-hitting range of shots. Interestingly, Suryakumar Yadav IPL journey started with the Mumbai Indians having made his debut in 2012 against the Pune Warriors at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. However, his talent and skills came into the resurgence when he was bought by the Kolkata Knight Riders in 2014 and he went on to smash a fine tally of 512 runs from as many as 14 games in IPL 2018 that included four half-centuries. But his explosive strengths came into the limelight when he returned to the Mumbai Indians in 2018. He played a crucial role in 2020 when the Mumbai Indians became the most successful team in the history of the Indian Premier League having won their 5th IPL title. The middle-order batsman went on to score 480 runs at a strike-rate of over 145 from 16 matches. 

After a lot of wait on the sidelines and years of hardwork in the domestic circuit, Suryakumar Yadav finally got the much-awaited chance to make his India debut during the five-match T20I series against England at home. While talking about Suryakumar Yadav stats, he smashed a blistering six off just his first-ever delivery in international cricket against England speedster Jofra Archer. He notched up an explosive half-century on his T20I debut at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. 

While talking about Suryakumar's current numbers in international cricket, he has scored a total of 2141 runs from as many as 60 T20I matches at a remarkable strike-rate of over 171 that comprises of 17 fifties and 4 hundreds. He was also part of the Indian cricket team during the 2023 ODI World Cup at home and was in the cricket news due to his struggle in the final against Australia. The right-hander has smashed 773 runs from 37 ODI games at a strike-rate of more than 105. 

Due to his spectacular rise in the international cricket especially in the shorter format of the game, Suryakumar Yadav will be playing a pivotal role in the India squad during the upcoming edition of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 scheduled to be held in the West Indies and USA. Being known as the Mr 360 degrees player and his six-hitting against the spinners will be vital for the Indian team especially in the Super 8 stage of the T20I tournament. 

Suryakumar Yadav first became a popular name in the cricketing circles through his amazing performances in the Indian Premier League especially during his journey at the Mumbai Indians. He went on to smash his maiden IPL century in 2023 that came against Gujarat Titans. Suryakumar blasted an incredible unbeaten knock of 103 runs off just 49 deliveries that included 11 fours and 6 sixes. While talking about his second hundred in the competition, it came against the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League 2024 season. Incidentally, he was not available for the first few matches of IPL 2024 due to recovery from an injury. 

However, Suryakumar Yadav finally announced himself in the ongoing IPL 2024 season with an exceptional unbeaten innings of 102 runs off only 51 balls that consisted of 12 fours and 6 sixes. This was his second century for the Mumbai Indians in the IPL history. Despite being their fourth retention in 2022, Suryakumar is very much likely to be retained by the Mumbai Indians ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction.
